Together on this inspiring day, volunteers from all areas of Philadelphia will revitalize the school’s campus to create a stimulating, positive learning environment for students and educators through mural painting, tree planting, and more.

Nominate an Outstanding Alum for the 2012 Comcast Leadership Awards

The Comcast Leadership Awards, presented by Comcast, recognize outstanding City Year alumni who have continued their dedication to community service; who maintain a commitment to excellence; who create sustainable solutions for social change; and who exemplify the core values of City Year. Five awards will be presented at City Year’s Summer Academy, sponsored by Comcast, in Boston during the week of July 16, 2012. In addition to receiving an award recognizing their achievement, each Comcast Leadership Award recipient receives a $1,000 leadership grant to be used for continuing education or furthering their philanthropic efforts.

Welcome to the "Art of Idealism" Art Competition

Help us create the first art edition of our Founding Stories Book that will give new life to the stories for corps members who are serving in some of the highest-need schools across the country, and for the staff and community that supports them.

City Year has a strong culture and set of values, and a key element of that is our collection of founding stories. These stories help remind us why we chose to serve and help frame the problems we address in classrooms across the country in new and inspiring ways. We share “Starfish Stories” in our community meetings (telling about a student whose life you’ve changed), we start every meeting with “Ripples and Joys” (a joy being something joyful and meaningful and a ripple meaning an action you took that you saw created waves of change in others), and we constantly strive to “Be the Change” in our work everyday.

We hope you find these stories as inspiring as we do and will submit artwork based on one of them!

     

There are only about three weeks left to submit your artwork! Thanks to the generous support of several organizations we’re excited to announce several great new prizes:

• Grand Prize winner will receive a Kindle Fire Tablet and a $25 gift certificate to Artist & Craftsman Supply
• Runner Up winner will receive a Kindle
• All 24 founding stories winners selected will receive starter paint kits (acrylic or watercolor) from Artist & Craftsman Supply, stationary/gift set from Bob’s Your Uncle, $10 gift cards to Amazon.com and a package of City Year promotional items.

Itai Dinour - Chief Organizational Advancement and Alumni Officer

Itai Dinour, currently serving as the Executive Director for City Year New York, has accepted the role of Chief Organizational Advancement and Alumni Officer. 

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, Dinour will oversee and work closely with the Alumni Department, in collaboration with the National Alumni Advisory Board, to align our engagement efforts and identify new ways to strengthen connections, support the leadership development of corps members and graduates, and mobilize the talents, skills, and resources of our 15,000 alumni for the benefit of the students and communities we serve.

Dinour will report to President Jim Balfanz ‘94 and will be responsible for building and implementing philanthropic revenue strategies, strategic partnerships, and alumni engagement initiatives that will accelerate City Year’s value as a social enterprise in alignment with the organization’s long-term impact goal.
